It was a privilege for NUS FinTech Lab to collaborate with Ripple and participate in two outstanding events that brought together global leaders, researchers, regulators, and innovators to shape the future of blockchain, AI, and financial technology.

UBRI Connect @ NUS Computing (10 June)

• Moderated the opening panel on Web3 & Asset Tokenization featuring distinguished industry leaders from Libeara, Northern Trust, DBS Bank, and Rajah & Tann Asia.
• Showcased Reg-Guru, an AI-powered regulatory compliance assistant developed by Hao Zhu, demonstrating how Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) can support financial institutions in navigating complex regulations.
• Proud moment for the team as NUS FinTech Lab received the UBRI Maverick Award 2025, recognizing our contributions to fintech education, research, and global collaboration within Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI).

The UBRI network now spans more than 60 universities across 28 countries, creating a vibrant global community dedicated to advancing blockchain research, education, and industry partnerships.

APEX 2025 @ Raffles City Convention Centre (11–12 June)

• Joined a panel discussion on “AI in Financial Services: Who Controls It, Who Benefits, and Who Sets the Rules?”, exploring the future of AI governance in finance.
• Celebrated the outstanding work of our students and researchers, including:
  
  • Ong Si Hui, who presented a lightning talk on hybrid security architectures for centralized exchanges following lessons from the Bybit breach.
  • Reshma Balaraman, who shared NUSwap, a research project uncovering trading behaviour through data-driven insights.
• Participated in the XRPL Commons Academic Breakfast, exchanging ideas with academics from leading universities around the world.
• Had the opportunity to join the CoinDesk livestream, discussing the intersection of fintech, blockchain, academia, technological disruption, and the importance of thoughtful governance.
