This semester, Prof. Jungpil Hahn is going to teach AI Governance and Ethics (IS5010) for post-graduate students at NUS School of Computing.
AI is not just a technical subject — it is a societal force that challenges how we think about fairness, accountability, regulation, and the balance between innovation and responsibility. The classroom has become a space where we explore not only the “how” of AI, but also the “should.”
What he enjoys most is hearing the diverse perspectives of students — technologists, entrepreneurs, policymakers in the making — grappling with real-world dilemmas and imagining frameworks that could guide future AI systems.
These discussions remind me that governance and ethics are not constraints, but enablers of sustainable and trusted innovation. I look forward to the conversations ahead this semester, and to seeing how these ideas will take shape in the next generation of leaders.
