Maximizing AI in ESG auditing. better world's journey into the ESG auditing space

About The Talk

Singapore’s ESG mandate is going to take effect in FY2029, and the market will be flooded with over 900 auditable ESG reports, with even more by 2032. Auditing teams are already flooded today and will experience even heavier workloads when mandates arrive. Each report eats over 40 hours, and general-purpose LLMs hallucinate in a domain that requires traceability. In this session, we’ll walk through our whole journey and talk candidly about what surprised us, and how we plan to scale betterworld further.

  • ESG audits are document-heavy and time-consuming. Betterworld says preliminary analysis can take more than 40 analyst hours per report, while new reporting requirements may expand demand for assurance.

  • The platform supports the audit workflow end to end. Its AI extracts information, maps requirements to evidence, and assesses findings with an audit trail and auditor-defined controls.

  • Early results look promising, but the business direction is still being tested. Pilot findings report 60% fewer man-hours, a first draft in about 20 minutes, and a 92% evidence hit rate. The team is also exploring pricing, adjacent markets, and a possible shift toward client interactions as market urgency changes.
