NUS FinTech Lab Director Associate Professor Keith Carter of NUS, School of Computing spoke at the Digital Banking Symposium 2020 organised by Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) and Banking and Financial Services Union (BFSU) on the topic “AI and The Future of Banking” together with Thurain Tun, Financial Services Industry Lead at Google Cloud APAC at Google and two recent NUS FinTechSG graduates Pei Wen Tan and Donn Y..
Prof Keith elaborated on the rise of virtual banks and how companies can make use of AI to automate their processes and become more nimble in their business decision making with real time data analysis. Thurain then elaborated on how Google has helped financial services companies provide a more personalised customer experience using AI and ML. Pei Wen and Donn then gave an account of their experiences in the FinTechSG programme and how it helped them develop the skills to succeed in FinTech despite their non-technical backgrounds. Our speakers then concluded the session with some advice to job seekers on the right mindsets and skills to adopt in order to thrive in these times of rapid change.
